Hi,

I am looking at cars for my girlfriend and we have found a Volkswagen Golf, it's low mileage and good condition. The only thing on the MOT is a advisory of a Nearside Front Outer Drive shaft joint constant velocity boot severely deteriorated (6.1.7 (g) (i)). Is this expensive to repair and how much roughly would you think? She doesn't have a big budget so if it's expensive to repair we'll give it a miss. Any advice would be great.

Many thanks.

I had it once on a A3, didn’t cost much to repair. Have you a local VW indie, give them a ring for a price.

Budget £70-£80 for a CV boot, there are plenty of other things to go wrong though.

As above anything up to £100 for the CV boot but as with all purchases do your checks on everything.
