Estate for £7.5k

I am in need of a new car in the near future and with a dog(s) and a wee laddie that likes taking every toy he owns on trips an estate seems to fit the bill.

I only do 9k miles a year, probably less with working from home, fuel economy isn't a big deal so petrol is king. Ultimately interesting to drive, bit of poke and not a dick to own.

Ford Mondeo 2.0 ecoboost ticks many a box but that powershift box scares the bejusus out of me. I live in the far north of Scotland so specialist independent garages are few and far between..... Actually general civilisation is few and far between.

So ideas, opinions and if possible ownership experiences would be greatly appreciated

That Mondeo is a fine looking example, is there a difference in the dry and wet clutch of the powershift in terms of reliability?

The E500 is epic but scares me for the potential bills.

Out of the ones you sent the Mondeo, a6 and the BMW sit at the top. I have to say naturally aspirated tickles my fancy. I started looking at imported 3.2 passats and v70s but it seems it takes some work converting them

The E500 is bombproof when it comes to reliability, like the Mondeo make sure the gearbox fluid & filters have been changed on schedule after that the only expensive service item is the Spark Plug change but that's because there are 16 of them.

The Mondeo has the wet clutch set up which is the better one Ford (like VAG) had issues with their dry clutch boxes not the wet clutches.

The Mondeo is the pick for me.

The Mondeo does tick all the boxes, especially of the powershift isn't the issue I was led to believe it was.

Also looked at v6 Superb and Passats but these are both very rare
