Sensible purchase or should I keep my current car?

Hi all,

Need some advice on buying a new vehicle.

Currently driving an Up! - Looking for something more practical as I'm planning on moving out next year.

I am looking at paying £6500 (in addition to part-exchanging my Up!) to get myself a 17 plate Civic that I can run into the ground and keep for years and years as it's so practical.

The 6500 is about 12% of my annual wage and I already have my house deposit, a rainy day fund and some investments. My head tells me it isn't a lavish purchase but I can't help but feel it is!

If the UP is reliable & big enough etc, i’d keep it

Be more practical:- The total load capacity is huge compared to that of the Up!

The Up! is 251L Seats up / 951L Seats down

The 9th Gen Civic is 487L Seats up / 1210 Seats folded (And, there's the option of folding up the rear seats which can make it far easier to carrier a number of oddly-shaped loads)

If you have no particular interest in getting a civic and just want to carry larger stuff occasionally you could keep the Up and just hire a van when needed.
