Best car for owner maintenance
Discussion
Hi,
I'm fed up with the complicated requirements of hooking up a computer using dodgy software and complex settings to do anything with my BMW.
Does any manufacturer properly supply the software for their cars to owners that want to do the maintenance themselves especially as the car gets older.
Paying a dealer £130 to 'register a new battery' is a complete scam. Car manufacturers should be forced to provide coding and configuration software for anyone to buy.

Look into the Carly app and dongle (you need both, and I think it's a subscription model now unfortunately) but you can do pretty much anythign a DIY person would need to do. Once youve done two things, like code a battery and diagnose a check engine light, it will have paid for itself
