F pace / RR / Cayennne or random panamera??

Thinking of changing the phenomenally reliable A6 Avant with one of the above. The audi still goes well but at 215,000 miles it may bork soon. I've not really thought about an F pace but find myself doing the man maths hmmm when I see one, I've previously had 3 range rovers which have all been problematic but I liked them. I am a porsche fan and strangely like the panamera but cayenne more practical. Budgeting 25 to 30k. So, if anyone has owned all of the above a heads up would help. 
I love our Cayenne, it handles far better than a 2 tonne SUV has any right to. Pulls anything we need it to effortlessly, drinks a fair amount but makes a glorious noise. (4.8 GTS) Transfer cases are a weak spot but Porsche now guarantee them for 10 years. (Mine is getting a new one on Wednesday under warranty) They do use a bit of oil too and interior fit and finish isn't up there with lexus but as a package it makes a lot of sense.
I've always liked Panamera, but they seem to be as big as a Cayenne without the practical benefits.

As already mentioned, it really does defy physics and it's far more fun than any car that size has a right to be. I bought mine for one specific purpose in Feb 2013, expecting to keep it for 6 months. I no longer needed it after May 2013 - but it was so much better than I thought it would be, it's still here 7 years later.
Having said all that - much as mine has impressed me, even though I treat it as a mobile skip these days - I do really like the look of the F-Pace. I'm tentatively shopping for another car myself so perhaps I should look at them!

What variety of cayenne do you have? Mine is the 4.5S.For various reasons I didn't check it properly when I bought it, and ended up with a sizeable initial service cost.
Since then it's been pretty good though and costs me very little. Although that's partly because the last time I paid for a service was 2015. That was only 10k miles ago though and I did change oil and filters myself 5k miles ago so is not completely neglected.
Based on mine, I do recommend them.
(Even as a trial run, I don't think mine would suit you - I think it's worth more to me than it's worth in value even though I don't need it much these days). Although if you're anywhere near Surrey and can sort out insurance I might let you borrow it for a bit!

I know what you mean where it's worth more to you than worth, my A6 lemans avant is amazing, re mapped 3.0 tdi 215k, worth about £10 but literally unbreakable and still scares the dog to death under acceleration For various reasons I didn't check it properly when I bought it, and ended up with a sizeable initial service cost.

If our trip to the UK works out later in the month (Depending on quarantine roulette) we will be passing Somerset happy to let you have a go in our mk2 Cayenne GTS if we are passing by on the way to Cornwall at a convenient time. (Its LHD though) Sadly based in Somerset so a bit far away to have a go! Thanks anyway though and judging by reviews I'll seriously look at returning to Porsche. Thanks for your input. The interior is amazing actually. Mine shows virtually no wear, and if I put some leather conditioner on it I reckon it would look practically new. Considering its 17 years old, 108k miles and has never had a hint of leather treatment at least in the last 7 years - it's remarkable.Always liked the Panemera too so it would definitely be one of the Porsche’s for me, I’m not a fan of Jags personally but if you like them go for it.

Picked up for less than £6k with 73,000 miles on the clock and has been superb so far. Does everything I have asked of it, including the post-Covid tip run, a 5 mile off road trip near the Ridgeway as well as a 700 mile jaunt to Yorkshire in comfort.
It’s not rapid but it can pick up pace pretty damn well and really sounds good above 4,000 revs.
As already mentioned, the interiors are well screwed together and the copious amounts of leather have worn well over the last 14 years, showing minimal wear.
The pixels are all perfect in the centre console as well as the PCM and the only two things I’ve done to it so far are installing a Pure Highway 600 for the DAB and Bluetooth streaming capabilities and also clearing the drains from day one.
The last owner was pretty good with maintenance - always using Parr’s somewhere near Crawley I think. I’m happy enough to do do an oil change when required but there are a couple of specialists not too far from me in Swindon if anything bigger requires attention.
It’s off to the OPC for a recall on the handbrake on Thursday (not that I really use that too much as it’s one of those pesky Mercedes footbrake jobs) but at least it’ll be nice to nosey around the showroom.

I can second this, mine was a 2004 and had 118k on it when I sold it IIRC, the leather wasn’t worn, no worn out trim, rattles etc like FFRRs of a similar vintage I’ve owned (that were much younger at the time) have had.Really nice cars, I bet the new ones are even better!.

I have a 12 year old 4.5S from new. 275,000Km from new. Has been used for some very long-distance towing of others cars on a trailer for about 50,000km in total.
Basically bulletproof. Only really expensive item was camshaft lifters. One went at about 220,000 km and that is an engine out job. The rest were minor items.
I also have a Panamera ST Turbo, about 20,000km on it.
Obviously blinding quick, but notable less room inside and is not possible to put my Great Dane in the back. Quite reliable so far with some electrical testing problems when new but nothing since...
Overall the Cayenne is a more versatile choice that the Panamera, although of course the Pana is a vastly superior driving experience.

Love your car choice!!! And good point re your Dane as I have a very large German Shepherd. Seriously going to consider a 4.5 / 4.8 following feedback on here.
