Alfa 159 Sportwagon
Discussion
Might be worth having a browse in the Alfa department https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/forum.asp?h=0&... if you don't get the info you want here.
I can’t add much, other than I should be picking mine up this week when the agreed work is complete. It’s a 2.0 JTDM Ti with 82k miles and full Alfa/Specialist service history.
Stunning looking cars; I got bored of wading through adverts for 3 series tourers and C class estates, so went for the Alfa after doing quite a bit of research and looking at buyers guides.

Do you mind if I ask how much you paid for it? Found a nice one around 5 but not sure it it's around the right price Stunning looking cars; I got bored of wading through adverts for 3 series tourers and C class estates, so went for the Alfa after doing quite a bit of research and looking at buyers guides.

The 1.9 (and maybe the 2 litre) Jtd engines are solid but they used a rotten GM gearbox.
Biggest issue is front subframe corrosion, rest of the issues are just old car stuff.
2.4Jtd has a much stronger gearbox, the GM F40 and has 4 pot brakes.
That's good, I did read a buying guide and it said that gearboxes are the weak points and to get the oil changed regularly.Biggest issue is front subframe corrosion, rest of the issues are just old car stuff.

£8k, probably sounds a lot, but that will include 12 months MOT with no advisories (so new discs, pads, lower arms, exhaust)Cambelt and water pump replaced (not needed for 12 months but being done)
Alloys refurbed
Front foglights replaced (the inner chrome goes)
Badges replaced
Gear knob replaced
Door mirror glass replaced
12 months RAC warranty and breakdown cover
The subframe is in good condition too.
Not sure if you’ve seen it, but there’s a black over tan leather Ti on Autotrader for £7k at a specialist in Birmingham. Not sure of it’s history though.

I wanted a 159 Sportwagon in red with 3.2 turns out there is probably 1-2 in the UK.
Really, that rare?Red appears more common in the 159 than most cars, and a reasonable number of the waggons, but presumably less with the V6 engine? And the three come to gets to make it a unicorn?

Check out some listings on Ebay - there is a dealer called Speciality cars based in Huddersfield - they have some nice 159 examples usually

I had a 2009 black ti SW with the 2.0d - the interiors of lates models get half alcantara seats - quick car, handled well (make sure the suspension doesn't creak as they eat wishbones!) They probably have one of the nicest steering wheels i have used too!

A lot more on eBay than I thought, although it seems that the better quality ones are just a touch out of my budget.
I do have a mini to part ex but I'm not holding my breath to get a decent amount for it.
I'm going to keep looking as one may come up but a lot of them are part service history or the lower spec
