X350 XJ V6 petrol...worth it?
Discussion
Apart from the diesel, all the engines are fairly reliable.
3.0 v6 is fine, slightly lacking in character but just about quick enough for an XJ which isn't a sports car anyway. Depends on your usage really.
Pick of the bunch is the naturally aspirated 4.2 but prices have gone up this year and trying to find a decent 4.2 is hard - a lot of these cars are getting badly modified by undesirables or not maintained properly. I settled on an XJR with a couple of bits needed even though I wasn't fussed about the supercharger.
3.5 v8 is often unloved as it makes barely any more power than the v6 yet has the perceived thirst of a v8 (in reality they are all pretty similar apart from the XJR)
Check out the bargain barge thread - sure someone on there will have an opinion.

Much talk on the 1-5 thread, the 3.0 is all good being reliable, chain driven, sufficient grunt given the weight of the car, and reasonable tax and fuel use.
Base models still have OK spec, Sov is very nice. Gumtree your friend for private sellers with low miles. Many useful threads.
