Thinking of purchasing M135i

Hi all,
So after my Cupra lease ended earlier this year I haven't really gotten around replacing it.
Currently use my MK6 Golf TDI as a daily but eager to have a second car on the drive for weekend or occasional use.
I've been looking at a M135i, looking to purchase it outright.
What're peoples thoughts on this car? Anything to look out for?

I have been looking at these too. What I have found is they are very spec dependant, by that I mean getting the right spec makes a big difference. E.g pro nav is much nicer inside, Harmon Kardon is nicer and removes the horrible plastic covers by wing mirrors, cruise optional, later steering wheel I think is 64 plate onward and much nicer, extended dash panel makes a difference to the instrument cluster .
I did 40k + miles in two m135s, first was a 2013 '63 which I had for 6 months and the second a 2014 '14 which I kept for over 3 years.
Brilliant cars - both were good spec, front/rear sensors, Pro Nav, HK, Cruise, Heated seats etc.
I did have a gearbox issue with the first and the second blew a turbo pipe off in the Alps last summer (common fault, and easily upgradeable part).
But I would definitely recommend.

Both my '63 and '14 plate's had the "newer" steering wheel, by the way.I ran one for 4 years. I'd look for one with HK, pro nav and heated seats. I didn't bother with the HK or pro nav and regretted it. The zf box was a must for me. Much better suited to the car as a daily and the manual wasn't that great to use.
As a drivers car, they are blisteringly quick out the box for a standard family hatch but in truth they are more of a mini GT car than a hot hatch. They are fairly heavy and not as nimble as some hatches but still fun. It's not the most resolved car in terms of handling but as long as you modulate you right foot depending on the conditions, mine never tried to kill me like some would have you believe.
I miss the car, it was a real hoon and that engine is epic. I liked that it pretty much looked like a normal 116d but had the pace to out pull a lot of more exotic and expensive machinery, as long as it was dry outside!
It used to average about 26 mpg for me but that was mainly urban and short runs.

I’ve had two M135s and now a M140 that is approaching 4 years old.
Great cars and agree with the Comments above. It’s more of a GT than a hot hatch. Great for long journeys and with the seats down has a huge amount of rear space for those essential DIY runs.
Very very fast mine is de badged and just blends in. Recommend switching to Michelin Pilot Sport 4s they transform the car especially in the wet and cold but wear quite quickly. Watch the front shoulders and I over inflate a little to compensate.
Door rubbers are hard and can start to wear the paint on the shut panels. Some also have a rattle on startup from the baffles until they close. Doesn’t bother me tbh.
You can expect to see around 30mpg in the daily going up on longer motorway trips. Adaptive suspension and HK would get my vote as essential options for me.
Test drive lots. Find a good one. Best of luck and enjoy

Thoughts on that one definitely hang around the interior for me, but you may like RED, if not there's plenty of choice. You need to drive the standard suspension to see if you like it, I didn't bother as I went for adaptive so no worries about a harsh ride and I'd buy it again. Heated steering wheel and seats get used all the time, even if it's just to take the chill off in summer mornings. The HK sound is okay not great. I like manual RWD cars but bear in mind the ELSD limits sideways fun somewhat. ZF has a slightly higher top for improved MPG on the motorway but I get good mileage around town and on a run from my stick shifter ta. Lumbar support for driver and passenger is essential IMO.
They're definitely a great GT car, with the back seats down there's loads of room for lovely vino from continental holidays and plenty of oomph to move it with too. We've enjoyed taking ours all over the place these past four years, it's fitted the brief really well and is a great compromise of practicality and fun. Ours is five doors and debadged so most people are clueless and there's been a few surprised gawps as we've hoofed away from people.
As a fun weekend toy I would not choose it, there's plenty more fun to be had for that kind of money, unless your weekend fun involves carting luggage and people to interesting places in which case I think there's nothing better for the money.
