£6k family/dog/bike options

As per the title, currently in a 2008 Subaru Forester XC, which is frankly slow, pretty cramped inside (tall family), not exactly luxurious and i fancy a change.
Living in the New Forest and also going down tracks with dog and bike, something SUV is probably in order, previously had an A6 avant and that kept grounding out. I definitely want something quicker than the scoob, and has to be petrol as i only do 3k a year.
My current shortlist is either a 2009/10 Nissan Murano (like them as a bit different) or a Lexus RX400h, the wife gets headaches from Ford plastics and i am not a fan of the Vag group tfsi engines....Is there anything else worth considering?
