Ok, i've £30K sitting thats not likely to be doing much or needed for the next year.
I've like to recover as much as i can of that if i do decide to resell it, so something thats a very slow depreciator or potentially wont depreciate at all.
Needs to be an auto, doesnt need to be practical.
Want something fun to drive, handles well.
I dont need four doors or a hatchback.
Any thoughts?

Id focus more on something fairly reliable, rather than something with minimal depreciation.
A £30k sportscar that turns out to be a lemon, could easily set you back £5k or more if you buy a bad one.

You've already been given the answer. Alfa 4C.
Alfaworkshop Geo mod & re-map and you've got the perfect fun car. Go for a Spider if you can stretch the budget - you'll get your money back when you sell. Super fun to drive, lightening fast overtaking on B roads (& A roads for that matter). I leased one for 18 months, and when the lease ended cars were selling for exactly the same prices as they had been 18 months earlier.

The only problem will be that you may not want to give it up, I mean who doesn't want a 7.0 V8 mated to a sweet drivers chassis, my uncle sold his because he bought the bombastic GT350R.

C63! Sounds and goes like a drag car, handles pretty well too! Go for the W205 S version, might be able to get one for around that price if your patient and shop around. I'd go C63 every time, they hold much better value too especially with the new one losing the V8 and replacing with a 4 cylinder 2.0.
Aside from those already mentioned, one of the special edition versions of the W204 C63 would get my vote. Not sure if those 507s with the funky bonnet vents and fancy wheels are in budget? In any case a W204 would hold its money better than the W205 imo.
