Good evening all,

Mid 30's and have been a petrol head since I can remember.

A year ago I sold my BMW E39 530i Sport. Was a great car, especially as it was a manual, but unfortunately felt a bit too old and the seats killed my lower back.

I am currently able to walk to work, but that will change in the new year when I move house and will have a 10-15 minute commute.

Grew up with a love of Cosworths, E30 M3's and JDM cars in the early 00's. Towards the end of the 00's I started to really like sport saloons (M5's, Alpinas etc).

I'm now in the position where I need a car for work, but having searched for a few days, feel completely at a loss as to what to get. Nothing seems to get my attention.

Criteria -

1) £10,000 max budget
2) Must be a saloon - purely for looks
3) Manual gear box
4) Fuel economy not important
5) Ideally 6 cylinders and above
6) NA preferred, turbo considered
7) RWD preferred, 4WD considered
8) Engine needs to have some sort of character that makes it interesting to drive (i.e. VTEC)
9) Can blend in when needs be, but can be a bit unhinged when required

That's my list to begin.

Recommendations appreciated.

Well if you're wanting a manual your choices become seriously limited:

AWD the Insignia VXR would be my pick it's got a cracking V6T that really comes alive after a remap

The Insignia is a pretty sweet steer too. Very underrated.

Subaru WRX STi - perhaps leggy for budget?

Legacy 3.0 saloon?

Modern Skyline V6 saloon?

Infiniti M30? (Auto)

Alpina B10 3.3 manual

Civic Type R saloon?

Alfa 159 Ti 1750 or 3.2 V6 Q4?

Extra 5k to budget could get a Lexus ISF I see!
