I really need help picking out a new car!!!

I am a 20 year old, who has held my license for coming up 2 years and I have 1 years NCB. I have 3 points on my license which certainly isn't helping matters. I currently have a Vectra 1.8 SRI that's to all intents and purposes f
ked. I have up to £1500 to spend on a new car, and I am looking to buy something that's a bit more punchy but isn't going to murder me on insurance. Any help would be great

I do agree though that lighter rather than more powerful will get you a better, more insurable, drive.

I did buy my near stock mk1 1.8 for £1800 end of 2018 with no rust on it, original sills etc so it is doable.
had a lot of fun with that car and learned a lot too.

I was thinking about something like and mx5 issue being I am at uni so I need to move mine and my girlfriends uni stuff about a couple more times so I need something bigger, I am now drawn to buying something like a Passat buy an mx5 like all 20yos and it'll be fun.

I don't think my driving skill comes into question in this instance but I do agree without penalty points finding a new car would be a lot easier No use getting something fast at your age given the prohibitive insurance costs so it would be best to focus on low weight and fun. A warm hatch or MX5 as suggested would be a great shout that shouldn't break the bank.
