GLE 450 vs X5 40i or something else?

Hi all,

Does anyone have any experiences of these two cars? I've test driven the BMW and looked around the GLE but wondered if anything else in a petrol guise was comparable. Just because it may be handy in the future I'd opt for the 7 seater versions.
