Seat Mii S 15 vs Suzuki Celerio SZ2 66 plate cat N (aka D)

Hi all,

Just canvassing opinions on this. It's just for a school drop off second car. The Seat has 53400 miles, the Suzuki 25800. The category N on the Suzuki has photos and the damaged wing has been replaced by original parts. The Suzuki is much newer and has Dab radio, Bluetooth and electric windows, the Seat doesn't (but has AC). I just mention that as the seat seems solid but a bit old fashioned which will only get worse in future if we need to sell. Any thoughts on which way to go? Reliability and low costs are priority really.

Oops forgot to say The Seat is selling for £3400 (no lower) and the Suzuki for £3600 (but may go lower, yet to haggle)

I'd take the Seat. The Suzuki, when tested by Autocar, had brake failures (multiple times). I test drove a Skoda Citigo a few years ago and it was great fun even with only 60bhp!

Have you looked at the 2014 Hyundai i10?

They are great little cars and it may be possible to find one for around that price. Well equipped in SE spec, spacious and very reliable. The 1.0 is good for urban use but the 1.2 is barely more expensive to run and can cope with faster roads.

My wife had a first generation i10 which was very boxy and basic but actually good fun to drive. She now has an ix20 which we use as our main family car. In 9 years of Hyundai ownership we have not had a single issue. I'm a big fan of the brand despite the granny image and would love an i30N or the forthcoming i20N one day.
