Removing a Private reg
Discussion
Apologies if this is the wrong place for this. I had a good look for the most suitable sub forum and landed on this one.
I’ve recently purchased a car. It’s a sub £1000 bit of fun that came with a 5 character private reg.
Doing a quick check online and speaking to an advisor on the gov website has shown the car had a gap in tax/ sorn. It’s been mot’d and used every year of its life, so I can’t imagine it was anything untoward. The advisor suggested it was probably just when the car was on a forecourt for Sale.
Now to apply for the plate to be removed, I need to send the v5 and the application form off and it says “further checks may be necessary, such as an mot type test”.
Now as this is a bit of fun car to be used on a track, it’s now not really in a great mot-able condition.
Does anyone have any experience with this process? Are they likely to just wave the application through or will they likely ask to see the car for a test?
Many thanks for any insight.
