Hello all

I just thought I'd share a method I've used to choose my next car.

Like many of you I'm torn between several models, that do not directly compare with each other. Also trying to weigh up different aspects of a car that may be more or less important than other.

What I did was take my three contenders, and score them marks out of five in categories that are important to me. For example "dry trackday performance", "wet trackday performance" and less important ones like practicality and fuel economy.

Then I weighted each score, by how important it was to me. Practicality got no weight to it, fuel economy got a small weight to it and reliability a much bigger one. I doubled the scores for wet and dry trackdays. That left me with scores for the cars that (hopefully) remove a bit of the emotion from car purchases and also highlighted how terrible my current track car was.

Hope this might help some of you, or at least give you some insight into what you really want in your next car!
