On www.check-mot.service.gov.uk for a car I am looking at, it says
"Outstanding recall found"
If the necessary repairs had already been made, how certain is it that that page would have been updated?

I recently bought a Bmw with an outstanding recall, wasn’t an issue, called bmw and got it booked in, work completed in a couple of hours free of charge. The current owner may not even know there was a recall on said car."Outstanding recall found"

The database can take a few weeks to update to say the recall has been done.
If it’s the right car for you, I wouldn’t let this put you off buying it
I definitely wouldn't be put off.
I bought a 52 plate 3 Series in 2014 and got notified of an airbag recall in 2017. Booked it in with Sytner and they replaced it, while I drank their free coffee and read the paper!
Just check with your local dealer and if it needs something done book it in.

It might be for airbags - some manufacturers have been struggling for years since Takata went bust.

Looking at a used car, OP probably doesn’t know that. VOSA site does list by make and model but it’s not easy to figure out which recalls apply.For example: https://www.nissan.co.uk/ownership/recall-alert.ht...
I had a fault with the the fuel supply on my 10 year old Nissan, I phoned the dealer to order the parts and was told that according to the Nissan database there was a recall that had not been done.
I took the vehicle to them and they fixed it by doing the recall for free.
Pretty pleased that their parts guy was on the case and that he checked, I was going to buy the bits anyway so he saved me money.

Me too - 11 year old new to me car, no problems from main dealer carrying out inspection.The database can take a few weeks to update to say the recall has been done.

Well, apart from:
-daily spam "is the time right to spunk £50k on a new BMW?" Er, no because I told you I just spent £3k on this one
-spurious work identified in free health check
- OCD mode on: they left the positive battery terminal cap uncapped...the horror...I'm nearly over it though now
