Fun fast towing wagon?

Budgets around 10k, 20k at a real push for something special. Needs room for four leggy people, a dog, and able to tow a ton or so. Ideally also not mega running costs in VED and suchlike, but we're not doing huge miles per year so MPG isn't a huge problem as long as it's not obscene.

Ideas?

It depends on what you consider a fun steer? Then there's accommodating the four adults & dog comfortably.
If you want a hot hatch then there are options but you compromise on rear legroom:
