Hi PH, first timer here, long time lurker. I wanted to check something with the leasing experts. I’m interested in doing leasing for first time and have come across a company that offers rolling monthly leases which might work for me (although not cheapest). But the small print mentions the vehicles have live telemetry. Is it standard practice for leasing companies to have telemetry on their customers?

Thanks

I don’t believe this is normal for leased cars.

It is however something some hire car firms have in specific models.

For example, Sixt have this disclaimer in their T&Cs:
“The Vehicle may be fitted with telemetry systems”.

Are you sure you’re not actually viewing something like a ‘long term’ hire, as opposed to a PCH lease?

Thanks for reply. No, it’s a subscription model lease that lets you change the car and do a rolling term. Looks good but a few catches.
Thanks for the feedback. Think I might stick to a standard setup. Just that I wanted something short term. Doing the maths on whether lease is worthwhile rather than a decent cash purchase (~15K).

All the regular rental firms offer this approach and normally cheaper than others

I ran a month to month rental from Europcar a couple of years ago for £350/mth, 100miles per day limit, I could change it every month from a range of vehicle categories.

It was really good as sole months I wanted a long range cruiser for work and others just a city car for airport and train station runs.

I also have a concurrently running rental car excess cover policy but it wasn’t needed.

That’s really helpful. Thanks. Do you know if they still do Such a deal? I usually hire from one of the other big rental firms but they have a max 10 day/month. Thanks
