135i fun factor

I’m coming from a fn2 and looking at 135i, I’m off to see one soon but im second guessing my decision. I have a works van so it’s not a daily. Mainly used for the odd weekend blast, going to shops and occasional long run. The Mrs is due next year so a 5dr would be better than the fn2.

Problem is I don’t want to loose the fun factor as the fn2 is great for that. I can’t have both so that’s a no go. Will the 135 keep me entertained with a auto box? Anyone done the swap?

It'll be a different kind of entertainment it won't be a flickable as Type R as long as you don't expect it to be you won't be disappointed, also look at a 335i M Sport they handle the same but are more practical.

You can still get an M135i with a manual gearbox, so that's always a consideration.

Definitely a different type of fun. The RWD aspect of the car will be entertaining, although i think these really need an LSD to get the most out of them. They have a mini GT car kind of feel to them, as apposed to a hot-hatch.

M240i auto owner here so not quite the same but close enough.

If straight line speed thrills you then it might be a goer as the car is genuinely rapid, especially when it’s warm and dry. However to me the car is best suited to being a comfortable (at least on adaptive dampers) small cruiser or, in hatchback form, a normal daily driver that happens to have a genuinely brilliant engine - whether it’s the N55 or the B58.

It is not, at least to me and in stock form, a weekend toy. I’ve not driven the FN2 but I’d choose the EP3 over it every time if entertainment was the main consideration.
