The car will be used for long M-way runs, carrying bikes and muddy kids, tip runs, airport drop-offs, and shooting (i.e. mild off-roading).

It won't be used for commuting, school run or trips into town.

Both come in around 60k, both offer similar performance and similar discounts are available.

The other option is don't buy either and just swap my MY18 Hilux for the MY21 with the extra 50hp and auto box.

Any thoughts? Anyone owned back-to-back Disco 5/V90CC?

Volvo with a narrow lead at the moment, which is pretty much my gut feeling too.

I would be very surprised if the Volvo doesn’t come in cheaper than the LR after discounting. LR typically quite tight and Volvo’s usually all over discount websites and leasing.

If not used for badge snobbery I’d vote Volvo. I had an XC90 from new as a lease and it was fantastic. The Disco is very very tall, how owners must feel entering multi storing car parks!!

I can get 13.5% on a MY21 Disco 5 and 10% plus a bit of dealer contribution on a V90CC. As I said in the OP neither are likely to ever see the inside of a city, never mind a multi-storey.

As far as badges go, I tend to view Volvo as rather unpretentious and classless. Well built, nicely styled and good quality (but not in an overtly showy way). Kind of where LR were before the 22" wheels and black trim packs (though the Disco seems to suffer less from that than the FFRR/RRS).

I’d have the Volvo. Every Land Rover I’ve owned has let me down.
