Buying a car, free paint schemes

Is it me or are they reducing it down over time?

In the old days quite a good selection of non metallic ones. White, black, blue red and others for the most adventurous


Now I am forced to have white only for a Grand Lander on the Vauxhall website.

Squeezing until the pips squeak .....




Thoughts?

PS Note Buzz Aldrin and Neil had aluminium silver as a no cost option on their Lunar Lander. Just sayin'

Strange. Ford offer a whole range of colours as do Volvo on all their commercials. I had a choice of 35 colours on my FH 16 700...

No, I think you're right. Range of no-cost colours seems to me to be diminishing. I guess it reflects the change in the way cars are now bought; it makes them easier to move on at the end of the finance period. White/grey/black are inoffensive colours.

It's a bit sad really.

On audis it’s white or non metallic black for free

On a seat Leon you can get any colour they do (red, blue, silver, black white, grey) all included in the price

What I don’t get is, on the new A3 you can get a sport in silver but not the S line.



I remember the Ford ecosport and KAplus the free colour was yellow, bet the dealers love those at trade in time

I agree with the OP, I'm sure it used to be that you got any of the solid colours for the base price, and only had to pay extra for metallic or pearl colours. Now it seems that very often there's only a single colour available without paying extra.

Just more marketing and income for them, the cost of paint between the free colour and metallic is very minimal.

Kia offer one metallic free, others are extra.... You telling me that the different colour metallic costs more to buy than the free one?
