Jaguar X100 XK / XKR
Discussion
I've been looking at these XK's for some time now and love the looks and style.
They seem to be ridiculously good value for money with plenty of nice looking examples with history from around £8K.
Generally, when something seems too good to be true, it is............... but is that the case with these Jaguars?
I accept that running costs will not be budget and that they will need looking after. I'm looking for a regular driver (as opposed to a daily driver). Something that is robust enough to be used regularly and remain reliable assuming it's correctly maintained. I'd expect to do around 4-6K a year in it all year round.
Is this realistic with these cars or am I being overly optimistic?
I'm also tempted by the later XK's (X150?) as although I prefer the looks of the older car, the aluminium construction and the fact that they are generally a little newer is appealing.
TIA.

I owned a 2007 X150 XK-R for just under 7 years and it was superb. Never had anything go wrong with it apart from 2 o2 Sensors and a MAF sensor.
Mine was highly cherished and not a daily driver though and there are a LOT of rough examples about now so tread carefully.
I've seen severe rust issues on many X100s, which would be off-putting. They're not in the same league to drive as the X150, but as a modern classic they do look nice, but I still much prefer the styling of the X150 and I much prefer it to the F-Type also styling-wise.

I was looking at a couple of X100 XKR's online and checked out their MOT history. One had few mentions of corrosion, but the other appeared to have had catastrophic issues with corrosion to inner and outer sills, floor-pan, rear chassis legs and sub-frames. It's obviously had a lot of work done and could be fine but it does make you appreciate how a nice shiny car can actually be a complete heap.

JayEmm on Youtube has just put a 2006 XK video up talking about this very thing.
Yes, I saw this yesterday. He seemed to quite like it.The one he's driving is the later aluminium bodied car, which removes a significant chunk of the potential issues likely to be encountered.
