Car advice budget £1500

Hiya, looking for suggestions on a new car. It would used for commuting to work (30 miles round trip) and 2/3 times a week as a takeaway car. I did previously have an aygo but want something more refined and comfortable. Preferably diesel due to MPG but would consider petrol as long as isn’t too thirsty.
