2009 Suzuki swift sport - pot holes roads

First post so go gentle on me.
I turned 40 last year and hadn't had my own car for over 10 years. As I commute by train I just drove the wife's generic family car at the weekends....Anyway, I decided to treat myself to something a little sporty but also reliable to get me out and about at weekends and with my son taking him to football etc
I ended up paying £2700 for a 2009 Suzuki swift sport and despite some impracticalities I've really enjoyed my 9 months of ownership, although the ride is harsher than my bones hope for at times.
Now the trouble.... I'm about to move house and unfortunately the road is one of those "unadopted" ones that's potholes and gravel for about half a mile and honestly drive the swift down the road is a horrible experience.
So the dilemma.... Do I change wheels for something smaller with a higher profile tyre and hope that makes it bearable or do I change the car for something of similar value but can cope with doing that journey twice a day 5 days a week.
What would you do and what would you choose?

Higher profile tyres will improve things but I don't think it will make it fundamentally a soft riding SUV.
I don't know anything about Swift's but you might find the brake calipers stop you from dropping too many wheels sizes anyways.
Have a look on eBay and see if you can get a budget set off a lower spec model to try...
If the swift really is unbearable I guess you already know the answer...

Unfortunately that's the scenario I'm coming to, which is such a shame as I enjoy the car and despite the body work being a bit marked it's a really strong car with a great engine.I never thought I'd see the day but I'm now looking at 2005-2009 versions of:
Toyota RAV4
Mitsubishi pinin
Suzuki grand Vitara
None of which appeal to me in the slightest, but needs must I guess.
