Best car for long distance

I'm planning on undergoing another European adventure (previous one was driving a Astra VXR to the Nürburgring with the dog) but before I check my lottery numbers to see if I can upgrade my diesel 3 series, I was wondering what would be the best car to drive to cross multiple countries in a day. In my circumstances I need rear seats for a young un so my choices all have rear seats
Current: F31 320d
Up to a million: BMW X5 M50d, Nissan GTR
Over a million: Audi RS6
Euromillions: Aston Martin DBS SuperLeggera
Therefore the question is if you were do to a driving tour of Europe, which car would you choose?

The two cars that I’ve enjoyed doing it the most in were a V8 R8, and an SLK55.Current: F31 320d

The worst was a Tesla Model S Performance. It made the whole thing into an awful endurance trial, mixing driving very slowly with having my whole route and stopping points dominated by where I could charge it.

I have the choice of a 2021 520d Touring or a 2020 Passat Estate to schlep around Europe in. Both totally competent, but boring to do so.
I'm waiting for Mrs V. to replace her Mitsubishi i-Car in the next year or two (for a Suzuki Ignis) so that I can freshen it up mechanically and on the exterior and go on a x week European Road Trip.
660cc, turbocharged, rear engine, RWD, climate control, 4 seater - it's a 911 Jr!
My inspiration is HubNut in his 2CV to Croatia, but I'm thinking of Corfu and back. Even if I won the Euros it would still be my car of choice.

A bog standard everyday Eurohatch is my weapon of choice whenever we're abroad.
Almost any village garage can fix one easily and cheaply with parts off the shelf and you can park one anywhere without a care about the odd dent and scrape it's bound to collect sooner or later.
It's got to be comfortable and easy to drive for hours and cheap to fill with a good range so you're not preoccupied where your next tank of fuel is coming from when you're up in the mountains or miles from anywhere or suddenly decide to add another 150km to the trip by taking the scenic route rather than the main road.
Road trips and long distance drives are all about the freedom of the journey and experiences along the way and not the car you do it in.
Someone's already said Citroen Berlingo...

My answer would be don't cross big chunks of Europe in a day. Much more fun to aim to do 2-250 miles per day, and spend the time on interesting roads rather than boring motorways.
Which is why my choice for touring around Europe is a motorbike.
