3 year old saloon/coupe

Hi all,

Looking to PH collective for their combined wisdom. A friend of mine is looking to purchase a new car once lockdown lifts.

Requirements are:
Up to 3 years old
Less than 30k miles
Diesel
Auto
20k budget

He mentioned the following as his current shortlist:

Jaguar XE
Mercedes CLS/CLA
BMW 3 series
Audi A5

Firstly, are there any other curveballs I should suggest? Alfa giulia?

Secondly, which out of the cars has less known faults and which engine is considered the best for each model? He's looking to keep it for the next 5 years or so.

Unfortunately, most of my knowledge is about cars that are older so want to provide him with some decent advice where possible.

Does he not have a favored manufacturer?

Any of the ones listed have cars which suit his requirements.

Personally I would be looking at a AUC 3 Series for £20k. If power isn't a concern then 320D but if he wants some poke 330D/335D.

At this price point the E Class for me is the one to go for with the newest interior & a smart looking exterior my money would go their.

Out of the mainstream models it would be the Giulia 508 & Infiniti in that order.
