Quick help please - Cargiant selling car without V5, safe?

Well it's not illegal but it's bloody daft.

Why wouldn't they pay £25 to get a new one issued? Most private sellers would do that if they don't have the full document. That's pittance to a dealer.

It's possible that there is a history of a logbook loanbor the previous dealer had lost the docs. Neither is suitable excuse for being stingy.

It would raise a concern on my part.

Can you still get hpi checks, might be worth doing one.

I wouldn't be worried as far as title/ownership is concerned.

Cargiant have been around for a while.

I'd want to know who the previous owner was though, just me, because I'm fussy.

Quite normal at present, We bought 4 cars from Mercedes-Benz last week and the V5's are sent from somewhere else meaning 1 of them was sold and off site before the V5 arrived. Pre-covid we used to do it occasionally as applying for a V5 in the garage name adds another owner. Just a case of sending off a V62 form instead of doing the keeper change online.

perfectly common - my last one didn't have a V5 so had to apply for it. fill in the V62 form.

I agree not a problem with CG. Sometimes the previous leasing/motability/auction has mislaid the V5C. The cars at CG can arrive and be on sale within days and a replacement V5C may need to be ordered which takes a while.

A bit different to buying from someone in Bradford with no V5C.
