Best 1.6 litre hatch
Discussion
Am wanting to run a Swift Sport, but they hold value with dealers very well, you are talking 5 k for 8 year old cars.
Is there anything else similar age, Ie 10 years ish, that runs a normally aspirated 1.6 litre engine? Hot hatchish?
Only one that springs is C2 VTS, but I would not be buying a 10 years old Citroen of anyone lol!

I had a Fiesta Metal which was a great little car. Pretty similar performance to the NA Swift SportIs there anything else similar age, Ie 10 years ish, that runs a normally aspirated 1.6 litre engine? Hot hatchish?

Friend of mine was recently looking at a 1.6 Fiesta titanium (which he did buy) and couldn't get over the fact that nice ones on 11 and 12 plates were £5k. I think it's because nowadays a 10 year old car is relatively fresh and perfectly serviceable, coupled with small cars being extremely popular.
If you have £5k to spend I'd go for the swift sport.
Depends if your budget is actually lower though?

Sorry for late reply, some great suggestions.
But I was not clear my bad.
Needs to be normally aspirated because I want to do some sprints in it aswell as primarily a daily. So the Twingo would be great as a sprinter but awful as a daily!
But the Swift is seemingly a god combo, better for toys etc.
But they are damn dear for what they are! But that is often a good sign as they are desirable and hold value to some extent, would only be 32 model not early as I want something roughly 8-10 years. Budget is roughly 5k#

Are you a member of your local sprint/hill climb club? Are there any stipulations regarding the vehicle type?
Most will stipulate different classes, most for road going/near road going type cars (i.e. lightly modified) to specific race cars.
Is the 1.6 element to do with your licensing requirements or down to the club regs?

Wouldn't necessarily agree that the Twingo would be an awful daily. Would probably be pretty similar to the swift really, but more engaging when being driven enthusiastically. Maybe a bit more stiff perhaps and they can be a bit kangarooey when cold, but should still be up for daily duties.

Evo felt the Twingo (with cup chassis at least) was the less polished of the two for real world driving, the stiffness proving frustrating when you have the bit between your teeth.

Also, I know it's not a cool thing, but most of the ones for sale are just over 70k in my budget, and you know why they are selling, as 75-80k is cambelt time.
Not an issue with the Swift obviously. But the Twingo's all seem a lot cheaper, but then they are French, and we all know French cars only ever last about 10 years lol! Swift seems a little more refined and more toys, which as a daily would be better.
Just a bit dire for Swifts for sale right now, all a bit over budget,
I have time though
