Buying a vehicle in Scotland when you’re from England
Discussion
Are there companies that will move a vehicle from Scotland to England at the moment that would call you to say it’s ok and sit while you transferred the money. I’ve searched shippers but not had much luck. Anyone used such a service before that they could recommend? Or would it be legal to go and collect if it’s a vehicle for your business to operate with?
So would I. We’ve been looking for close to a year now and been let down on a couple. But to someone else (ie the wrong policeman) would it seem bonkers? Could just see them saying you could buy one of those in England. Well yes I could but not in the spec I want for the right kind of money.... I’ve read reports of people being stopped at the border but how realistic is that?
Should add it’s not like we’d be popping over the border, we’re in the Midlands so it’s a fair trek!

I've been working and driving since lockdown in March 2020, have a critical worker letter. Never been stopped, driven a lot, long drives on some very deserted major routes.
Never thought or been stopped.
Great driving from Dumfries to NCL and back one morning, was back home by 11:00
Delivering critical, temp controlled, time limited samples to a lab.

Stopped at the border? Other than a sign saying welcome to Scotland and potentially a lay-by to take a photo, I’m not aware of any border. Should add it’s not like we’d be popping over the border, we’re in the Midlands so it’s a fair trek!
Went last week and back from Leeds and couldn’t see any sign of the feds or any changes to the ‘border’.
I was more concerned about crossing from the West Yorkshire ‘border’ into North Yorkshire, apparently the hill billy NYPD don’t like flash southerners from Leeds using the local a1.
You will be fine, you have a legitimate journey.
