Inspired choice or losing my marbles - 2cv?

For some unknown reason I am thinking of buying a 2cv as a fun runaround. I have owned much more powerful cars (or even power tools ) in the past, but it seems to me that for wafting around a and b roads, with a relatively high fun to cost ratio, and the possibility of getting nearly the same price back when I come to sell it all things being equal, this could actually be quite an inspired choice.

This would not be my only car BTW - already have other bases covered.

I would welcome thoughts on this, particularly from those who own/have owned one.

Never had one, but I'm not sure 2CV and 'wafting' really go together!

A 107 is the 'new' 2 CV. Strangely they both work well in the now.

It would be a lot of fun and very easy to maintain, if that's your thing. I can't help but think they're overpriced for what they are and they're wildly underpowered. What kind of money would you look to spend?

As far as I see, you need £5k+ for something reasonable up to £10k for a very nice example. For that money there are a lot of other cars I'd rather have, for example £8.5k buys you into a very tidy Triumph Spitfire

As a fun 2nd car for nipping around in I'd say why not? They are supposed to be very comfy little cars and I'd say cheap to fix and run.
Go for it, if they appeal to you.

Ha! That'll teach me to choose my words more carefully in the future. Perhaps "struggling" ?

Another way of looking at it, is that It's more of an indication that I am not in a hurry to get anywhere (though I have other options for that). Which is something to enjoy in today's "rush rush rush" world!
