First Range Rover hybrid p400e? 2020 Is it worth it?

Hi looking to go electric. Anybody have it? I do a lot of mileage so will be cost efficient. Choosing this hybrid over the 3litre V6?!

What type of trips do you define as 'a lot of miles' - If you're doing 50miles/day split between 25miles in the morning and 25miles in the evening, with somewhere to charge at both ends then it's probably worth it as you'll hopefully do the majority on the electric - Assuming the quoted 31mpg electric only range isn't ridiculously optimistic.

If you're doing long motorway slogs then you're going to deplete the battery in the 15-30mins and then find yourself carrying around the extra weight of the battery pack with a 1997cc electric motor to pull the 3+ tonnes of metal around.

If you're doing the latter type of journeys then you won't be seeing any improvement in fuel economy, you'll also be forking out a chunk extra upfront for the car and I'm struggling to see what benefits you'll find yourself with.

I suppose it's useful if doing a lot of short journeys and also wanting to use electric only mode for London?

I do around 400 miles a week 100 each day 50 each way . Isn’t the hybrid 86mpg?

If you're doing more motorway miles & you want to go hybrid then look for a 3.0 diesel hybrid which will give you decent MPG on a run so you get the best of both worlds

I have one, the quoted range is definitely optimistic, especially this time of year with lights/heaters on etc.

Once the electric range is used up mpg is 20-25, so can’t see them making any sense unless for short journeys.

I rented one for a few months, two of them broke down and they guzzled fuel like a V8.

I don't see how spending £70k on a car which is going to depreciate at a rate of knots is a sensible financial move on any front?

Why not buy a £30-35k full electric if fuel cost savings are your primary driver?

I would have to drive to the moon and back to justify the extra up front cost of one of these versus a much cheaper petrol engined car.

A month ago carwow reviewed 2020 Range Rover P400e

They managed 20 miles on electric and then when battery was empty, they were getting 24mpg from the petrol engine

Doesn't sound that great for lots of miles unless you are driving 20 miles for each journey and plugging in at each end.

Tbh fuel saving is not main priority. It’s just that Iv never driven a suv changing from a coupe. I like the sport as overall car as a all rounder . Also need the space!
