used car value low mileage

Looking at a Skoda Octavia 2lt TDI 2010 CR SE model.
One owner car
good history
low mileage at just 40,000.
Price is very strong imo, although the ad’ tells me it’s mint condition blah blah blah. Realistically how much value is added to the car by its low miles?
The car has an asking price of £4500.

4K a year is pretty low so personally I would say it’s worth more than something with 100-120k miles on it.
At 100k miles or more you are likely looking at spending a bit of money on suspension bushes and the like which a 40k mile car is unlikely to need, that’s my experience anyway.
It’s certainly not worth double but if a 100k mile one is worth say £5k as an example, a 40k mile one could justify say £6-7k maybe.
It’s hard to put an exact figure as the bodywork on the 40k one could be a right mess but the 100k one could be mint so that changes value again.

I would like a tdi for towing duties and I know from past experience that the 1.9tdi lump will be perfect for the job. I think I will have a chat with the seller (private sale) with viewing in mind. The worst thing could be perhaps an engine that’s sorted up from short runs.

WoW that’s a big difference! I had a look at my target cars MOT history, noted advisory on rear sub frame corrosion but not serious enough to weaken subframe. That was 2018 and not mentioned after that and it’s just flown through its latest MOT. It’s an old car and bound to have some corrosionI suppose.

If you Google Subframe Corrosion and Skoda Octavia, it sounds like it’s fairly ‘common’. There is talk on the forums about replacing rear axles and the like, would put me off a little.I had a look at my target cars MOT history, noted advisory on rear sub frame corrosion but not serious enough to weaken subframe. That was 2018 and not mentioned after that and it’s just flown through its latest MOT. It’s an old car and bound to have some corrosionI suppose.
If the corrosion was that bad on a sub frame, surely it would just snap in two?
Could just have been a bit of surface rust but until you see the car, you won’t know.
