Hi, all. I know, a bit of an odd comparison. I currently have a 3.0 NSX and have been looking at 456GT's. There is an itch for one as I had a 1:18 scale model of a 456 when I was a kid. I have read a few buyers guides so I know the general deal but i was wondering if anyone here could weigh in with their opinion. One is a sports car and the other a GT, so I'm not after direct comparisons but any musings on ownership experiences and running costs are very welcome. The NSX owes me over £3500 in less than a years motoring and it would have been over double that without the warranty from the specialist i bought it from, can the Fez really be that much worse to run..?

Any body here driven a 456?

I’ve driven them not owned them
The 456 is a true GT in the old fashioned sense
Id only go for a manual not the more common auto
Don’t expect running costs to be lower though!
TBH if I went for a fez 2+2 I’d find a bit more money for a 612scag

Thanks. I hadn't realised 612 prices had dropped that much. However - I think they're ugly, to be honest! Also, they don't have a manual box, so I'm out biggrin

Fair dos!
They actually look very cool and understated in the flesh. The 456 I loved at the time but is in that no mans land between modern and classic IMHO

Last year I bought a 1994 456GT manual.
It’s a great drive, and pretty too.

After some neglectful attention in its previous life it was brought up to date by specialists Rardley Motors having a full set of tyres; lots of finicky details sorted out; window frames aligned and lots more. Cost was around £7k; which although high, has returned the condition to 8.5/10 so next year it should be back to needing only basic routine service work 🤞

I'm surprised your NSX has been so expensive to run considering it has a reputation of being a very practical and reliable car.

Did it have a neglected life before you?
