Declare repaired damage on trade in?
Discussion
I'm about to trade in my wife's Mazda 2. She was struck to the passenger side door by another driver whilst it was snowing in December 2020. The damage meant we needed a new door and the other party paid for repair with no insurance involvement. Do I need to declare this when I trade the car in?
If you answer a straight question with a straight answer you might get knocked down on the trade price, even though the seller knows it is immaterial in the overall scheme of things. If asked that question, my reply would be that it is not recorded on the register as damaged repaired (if it isn’t that is) I.e it is not any category (C, D, S, N) There is no reason for the buyer to ask for any more detail than that, unless there’s been a bodged repair that is obvious on inspection.

That's kind of skirting around the question! If I was buying privately and the owner answered my straight question with 'it's not been recorded as accident repaired', I'd be asking again
However, that's not the same as the OP's situation, but if asked I'd probably just say it's had a new door etc.

... ‘it is not recorded on the register as damaged repair’. Yeah, right. Good luck with responding with that.Gassing Station | Car Buying | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
