possibly thinking about one of those, anyone knows how reliable they are once they go past 100k+ Miles? (looking at facelift 2013-2017 models)
All I can find online is some reviews from people who have had the car brand new for 1-2years saying they been fairly reliable...doh...what else would you expect from a brand new car biggrin

Anyone has owned one of these at these miles or perhaps has heard about them?
The plan is to get one and put on another 100k miles on it without much problems, Doable or not with XC60?

I had a 2011 XC60 for about 18 months coming out of a company car, had done 70k and i put another 18k on it.

It did have to be recovered to the dealer twice under Volvo Approved used warranty but i cant for the life of me remember what for.

was a 2.4 D5 215bhp 4wd manual and averaged an indicated 31-33mpg (sub 30 calculated).

I'd have another but it would be 2wd or a later D3/D4 as the performance didn't warrant the fuel economy and i didnt need 4wd.

Depends on the engine I’d say.

D5, deffo will handle the miles if serviced properly especially the belts at the appropriate time.

D3,4 are generally reliable but suffer a little more with all the eco gubbins and not as robust as a D5

Auto gearbox can be problematic if not flushed every 60-70k miles, manual is generally fine.

We've got a 2013 V40 D3. Quite low mileage at 45k, but pretty reliable. The only issue has been a few sensors going. Always drivable though.

I think I'm loosing my hope getting an XC60...

Today I went to look at one with 150k miles just to see what they look like at these miles ,The engine was rattling and close to toast.

Than I went to see one with 190k miles ( one owner car, full extensive service history etc, from the paperwork It was the kind of car one would dream about having....) well..
It was completely broken and on it's last legs, the engine sounded like it was about to fall apart any moment.

So far I have seen 7x XC60's of various years & Mileages.
- 4 of them were totally broken with obviously knackered engines
-1 had smoking engine
-1 had signs of something off with the engine, but still some life left in it- but not something I would purchase

Only 1 sounded/looked rather ok with no obvious faults that you could see right away apart from the owner skimping on servicing/not changing timingbelt and other crucial stuff..

And That's after sorting through tons of XC60's online where you could see that they are junk without having to go and see them after checking their history/MOT/ or talking with owners about them.

Am I really crazy for not wanting to give up and try to get one even after seeing that 90% of them have absolutely crap engines?
What the hell is wrong with these cars that they have such massive problems as they age?

It’s only our experience, but we sold one on at 140k and 7 years old as it was starting to become unreliable. Sold it to WBAC for £6.8k and I was amazed to see it list at a trader for £8.5k and sell within a fortnight (this was in 2018).

Gearbox is well known for having issues (it’s used by a number of manufacturers, different name across brands).

I think there’s better out there for the money tbh!
