Do you regularly carry four adults and a child? And is the child still in a car seat?
I would say most small SUVs like the 2008 would struggle with three people in the back especially if you have a car seat. Also small SUVs seem to be a more recent thing so a lot of them would be out of budget. I would look at the mid sized models that ZX listed above. Or if you want the space and are prepared to sacrifice the high driving position a family hatch (focus size) offers better value for money.
