Hi there, wondering if anyone can offer any advice on my current situation.

middle of April 21 i purchase a brand new 21plate GLA Mercedes, it was confirmed to have a damaged dash and needed to be fixed so delivery was delayed. Fine i accepted that. 30th April was collection day, inside was fixed but rear boot panel seemed to have fish eyes and was damaged. (couldnt believe they didn't notice or even say)
They acknowledged the damage and we agreed for them to fix it and was booked in one week later.
Had the car for 6 days.In those 6 days i had an private inspection who confirmed fish eyes and a report was written for me.
I then returned the car to Mercedes to be fixed 7th May.
One week later they rang to say its ready. 14th May. Upon arriving, i noticed fish eyes not repaired and even more damaged, another panel had been over sprayed and chipped, the rear windscreen had also been sanded and the glass was flaking away along with chips at the outer edges.
Obviously i was extremely disappointed and clearly stated no one had checked this before even calling me let alone thinking this was a suitable repair on a brand new car.
I then in writing gave them one more opportunity to repair all damages and stated if it wasn't satisfactory i would want a replacement or reject the car.
Manager then confirmed it would not leave merc head office body shop until it was fully fixed and he would personally go view the car before it left.
Car left that workshop on 21st May and returned to dealership.
I then had to chase all week what was happening with car as my 30 day rejection period was coming up and i was really annoyed that my first payment was due also yet i hadn't got the car back.
was fobbed off with, badge was damaged was waiting delivery on a new one, then rear panel wasn't good enough and needed more over spray fixing, then it went to bodyshop again and back again, then on 29th may they still wouldn't say if it was ready for collection and sent pictures, showing glass still damaged. They did offer compensation of paying monthly installment and free service, and agreed glass was still damaged. Very bad service received from dealership so at this point i rejected the car.
They accepted rejection,. my part ex had been sold and i fully understand i would get a refund for all i paid, but i just want a GLA in A1 condition like i paid for.
Here#s the problem, the deal i got is no longer around, the apr was 2.2% its now at 3.9% there is no cars in stock in the UK, im left out of pocket, no car and cant even get in a new one. I've requested a meeting with the manager but what the hell should i do now.

Any advice would be great thank you

Sorry to hear your tale. Sounds like a really bad experience.
If you still want a GLA then I would try and remain polite with the dealer and ask them to honour the original deal and source you a new car.

Unfortunately if there are no cars in the county then you’re at a dead end.

The question is, knowing they can’t supply you a car, what do you want? You say you’re out of pocket? How much? That’s where you start.

Eventually you’re going to have to put a number on it and walk away.

I would ask them for a courtesy car while you are waiting for a replacement and ask them to honour the deal you had.

You will probably get neither knowing how Mercedes seem to treat their customers of late so I would be looking for something else.

Just so you know in case anything like this happens again, your 30 days gets extended by the time your car is back at the garage (not in your possession)

Such a shame the garage couldn't get it put right for you.

Hi All,

thanks so much for all the replies i really appreciate everything.

The purchase of the new car has been so tainted its been an awful experience and not an enjoyable one.

i part exchanged my old vehicle and it had good equity in it and a good part exchange value but in the deal it was factored in the deal in a diff way by dealers contribution so if i excepted a refund ive kissed goodbye to the equity and the good value i got as the deal goes too. The total discount i got on the car was £8k and i put down £2k the part exchange on the vehicle just looked like it was paying off the old finance at £8k but the rough estimate of what my vehicle was worth was £13k at dealership and about £15k private sale, so im set to loose about £5k hence why i wanted another replacement.
With all this mind i had no mind of rejecting the car so how they worked out the deal was no problem to me until now, when im kicking myself.

due to the microchip shortage and lack of cars, the next GLA is due to arrive in September, a considerable time to be without a car.

ive requested a meeting with the dealership but the lack of customer service so far has been far from what i expect with Mercedes.

What are fish eyes?

Fisheyes (also known as craters) are an unattractive occurrence that can happen when dirt, wax, oil, or silicone gets stuck under the paint on your car. This causes spots or bubbles in the paint job. The spots appear as little white dots with paint surrounding them. This can look like a “fisheye,” as the name implies. Fisheyes can be widespread or found just in a small area.

Fish eye (Fig. 10) is caused by a contaminant on the surface prior to application of paint. Generally speaking, that contaminant is a light oil (silicon), which has, by whatever means, found its way to the surface of the vehicle. When paint is applied on top of this contaminant, the paint is unable to adhere to the oily surface and a "fish eye crater" is caused.

100% they admitted it got damaged on transport, and I was very understanding and said if it can be repaired back to A1 condition then all is good, they just failed to get it there and just kept making it worse.
