Mk 8 Fiesta ST ?
Discussion
Keep looking at these for my next car as they just seems unbeatable for the money.
Only concern is the firm ride - also noticed quite a few of these for sale at 1-2 years old ? Are they just to uncomfortable for everyday use ?
Is there any relatively easy way of improving ride quality or is it best to just look elsewhere ?
Thanks

Exactly same boat currently - considering ST as a second car for our household. I think ride comfort is very personal - I had an FK2 Type R before which I thought was fine, but if you believe some of the reviews it's unbearable. Unfortunately, I can't seem to locate an ST anywhere that's available for a test drive, so might be a case of ordering one and taking a punt...

A simple spring change sorts out the ride & still keeps the fun factor, Mountune sell them.Only concern is the firm ride - also noticed quite a few of these for sale at 1-2 years old ? Are they just to uncomfortable for everyday use ?

My advice would be to drive one , the ride is hard and the seats not that comfy and mine was thirsty compared to alternatives
The seats do soften up, I found them quite firm at first but over time they get to fit like a glove.Definitely get a good test drive though, the ride isn't uncomfortable but bad surfaces at low speed really bring out the worst of it. It deals with imperfections at higher speed much better, especially now I've fitted Eibach Redlines.
I personally love the car but I can see why it's not for everyone
I was very tempted by the Fiesta ST when I sold my Boxster as we weren’t doing the long Euro trips we bought it for. We’ve been massive Ford fans for years anyway, my wife has a Focus ST3 that we’ll be buying next month when the pcp ends.
The Focus is obviously quite a firm ride so we went for the softer option of a nearly new Fiesta ST Line X. Four weeks in and we love it, plenty powerful enough for running around and no reason not to use it for longer trips. Amazing little engine and even a mild hybrid to help me feel clean and green!

It’s funny but I was going to mention the ST Line - very nearly as much fun but more comfortable day to day.The Focus is obviously quite a firm ride so we went for the softer option of a nearly new Fiesta ST Line X. I tried the mk 7 Fiesta St but ended up in a red edition Zetec s - 140 bhp from a 1.0 and it was one of the best cars I’ve ever had ! The suspension was just perfect but so much fun to throw about !
I’d noticed that engine is now 155 bhp with the very mild hybrid. How does it ride ? 18” wheels ?
