Need to sell my wifes car urgently within the next week and ive gotten back two quotes for my wifes Mercedes. Evans Halshaw is offering an extra £200 although they are around 11 miles away whereas webuyanycar is around the corner from me. Was wondering if anyone has experience with either of them and which to go for?

Also does my wife need to be with when i sell the car to them as it is in her name or would bringing my marriage certificate be fine? Asking since ive currently got the an appointment with Evans Halshaw for friday but if she needs to be with then ill need to rearrange?

Yeah..

WBAC were clowns.. Knocked the price down ridiculous amounts for a couple of stone chips, 1 small mark and some tyre shine on the alloy, so I walked away. The guy who looked over the car was working his notice as he viewed their pricing mark downs as unfair/stupid.

Evans Halshaw paid £900 more, £150 less then their online value.

I am literally the same as you, need to sell this week.
Went on wizzle.co.uk as read awful reviews about WBAC.
I have decided to go with TheCarbuyinggroup.
They gave the highest valuation taking into consideration all the things which would mark my vehicle down.
They called me and we went through everything Monday, sent them pictures and they even increased their offer by £500, they’re coming to collect the car from my home address this Friday.
Our car is in my Husbands name also, but won’t be here. As long as you have passport/driving license of owner, all necessary documents and the funds have to go into their account all is good.
Check them out on trust pilot, they get good reviews.
They won’t take your car away either until funds confirmed as received or laid to the finance company.

Why don't you call them and ask?

For balance, I sold a car to WBAC on Saturday. I included scuffs and flaking paint on both door mirrors, and a scraped alloy when I got my quote, which was £9,487.
The guy found a scrape on another alloy, which I’d missed but it was definitely there, and a few tiny stone chips on the front. The value was reduced by less than £50.

Deal done quickly and easily there and then, didn’t feel I’d been messed about or that they’d taken the pi$$.

Dealt with them and Wizzle in the last week for two different cars, and both were professional and easy to deal with; I’d happily use either again.

Second time I’ve dealt with WBAC; the first time I got more than I was quoted as they couldn’t fault the car, and I’d under called the mileage.

WBAC are rip off merchants. Offered low money for a friend's lovely M6 then chopped it back a grand for age related paint marks. 12 year old cars are rarely as new! Rubbish way to sell a car.

Evans Halshaw offer good money and do chop the price down on inspection. I'd go into any appointment with them eyes wide open.

Ironically all their used car sales on autotrader appear to be unwashed wrecks.

Yep, a few months ago took the wife's 11 plate Fiat 500 down to them, they ripped it to shreds due to stone chips which one would look as age related (I'm in the trade!), they didn't even spot the knocking front suspension and broken microswitch to open the boot (I opened it before the guy looked round it!), I subsequently sold it to a trader I know whom I made aware of the suspension noise and boot switch issue, for £300 more than WBAC offered me.

He said WBAC were taking the piss, with their offer.

They aren't ripping you off as it's your decision to accept their offer or not.

I sold my Golf to EH, they paid exactly what they'd quoted.

I sold my SX4 to EH and they halved the bid with no explanation. (We then had a haggling war....)

I guess it's the luck of the draw on the day. As said, you always have the option of no sale.

Anyone looking to sell at the moment are in a very good position. I work in the industry now (car buying) and there prices have never been higher. I've tracked a few hot hatches for the last 9 months and for example, a 2015 fiesta ST with 20k on has jumped from £7300 to sort £9400.

It's a seller's market right now. What are autotrader instant offer offering?

I sold to wbac last month, easy transaction. In and out in 20 mins. If your car is in your Mrs name she will need to be there I think. They knocked me down for a few stone chips but that was it (as there wasn't anything else wrong with it).

Just don't expect top dollar if your 'mint' car actually has dents on all panels, stone chips gallore and rips in the leather.

Not used Evans, but our Auntie has and they paid asking price (again it was a nearly new car with no damage). She used them over wbac because they offered more.

Evans offered me less so I used wbac. Wbac were several thousand more than the part X offer.

Sold mine to WBAC last week, motorway were messing me around saying they had to do a manual estimate and get back to me which they didnt, when I chased them they had knocked £1k off the online estimate. This was on Tuesday and I was getting my new car Thursday so took it WBAC who's estimate was the same as the motorway original value and sold in 10 minutes with no deductions. £75 admin fee and finance/positive equity paid after 4 working days as promised.

I had no issues with WBAC selling a 2018 X5M. They were £k's above my friendly dealer.

Make sure during the online valuation you are honest with any damage, this is where people get bent out of shape. You can debate the £ reduction of damage all you want but if you've been honest you'll know that before you turn up in person.

Most of the WBAC problems I've read are people not listing damage then having a groan when WBAC pull up scratched wheels / paintwork and take cash off. The damage is either there or not and you have the chance to value the car with it before you turn up in person, shouldn't be a shock.

It will depend on the car, value, condition etc.

Seems like WBAC snapping up 'newer' 'higher' value cars still for Cinch.

But are still p*ss*ng people off with knock downs on older stuff that wouldn't go to Cinch.

I used Jamjar successfully to sell my parents car c£3k. a colleague used EH to sell her successfully c£25k

Just sold my M6 through Wizzle to BMW main dealer.

Car genuinely was immaculate. Couple of stone chips in keeping with 20k miles.

WBAC knocked it down from £40765 to £39800 due to stone chips on bumper and bonnet. Assessor accepted it was ridiculous but said that’s what they had to do. A tiny stone chip on the windscreen didn’t bother him. He Said he had only ever given full price to 3 cars and had to get authority to process it with no reductions! Also with WBAC, if the car is over £12k they will not pay on the same day.

Wizzle was painless. No haggling from dealer and got £40k. Already up for sale with a £6k markup, which is fair.

Used both, one for a Panda 100HP and one for a Focus ST. Both cars in excellent condition.

WBAC was the quicker experience and after a quick one round with a clipboard and a drive up and down the road, we had the figure which was just a few quid shy of the online quote.

Evan’s Halshaw involved lots of waiting around, despite having an appointment, but the inspection was a lot less thorough and he was happy for me just to start up the car rather than drive it around. Only point I was knocked down on was that the car was 2 previous owner where their online quoting expects 1 previous owner. Still the offered price was close to the online quote though.

For both we went for the free money transfer which takes a couple of days. ID checks for EH were a pain and they didn’t accept some of the ones they list on their site.

If I was to do it again tomorrow, I’d be going to EH first, purely because they offered significantly more.
