I'm looking at a new RS4, to date I've had a 10 minute test drive and have approached a number of dealers for an extended test drive. The best offer I've had is from Nottingham Audi who will get a demo vehicle from Audi UK for me but only for the day.

I've said all along I want a 24 test at least but nothing doing anywhere, even Audi UK just bat me off to the dealers.

Anyone got any deas or is there somewhere (East Midlands) where I can hire one or do I give up and look for something else

I'd sack them off and spend your money elsewhere, Merc\BMW?

Logically, would you not take up the offer for a test drive for the day and then reassess if you need more time with the vehicle afterwards?

Nottingham Audi will get you a car for the day but you want one for 24 hours? What is the difference between a day and 24 hours?

You sound like a timewaster.

Without having a long-standing relationship with a dealer, I doubt you will get an extended test drive. Also being an RS product that limits your chances further. A few hours in one will give you a good idea whether you want it..

The offer of a car for the day seems reasonable to me to be honest. I suspect they don't have much issue with selling RS4's without giving them out overnight and if they do give one out overnight the risk of the car going missing increases dramatically which they don't want to deal with. Not suggesting you are dodgy OP but parking one outside a house as we all know will attract the wrong kind of attention which the dealer won't want to deal with

Whilst I have no doubt your intentions are genuine, how many people do you think try and blag an RS4 for the day? Have you thought about offering a sensible deposit (Maybe 10% of the price of the car?) that they can hold whilst you have the car. If anything it will show you're serious and not just out for a joy ride.

Behave yourself. You're asking for 24hr test drive of a car that sells itself to most people who want that type of car - At least until the M3 estate is available.
What are you hoping to accomplish that a 8hr test drive (which is already very generous) wouldn't manage to? Are you going to be seeing how the visibility is at dawn and dusk? Want to see how it feels to look out of your curtains and see it on your driveway before bed?

If you're desperate to try before you buy for 24hrs then, as mentioned above, get a hire car. Failing that, good luck finding any manufacturer that will let you have a 'hot' car for 24hrs with no commitments.

I'd have thought 20 mins or so will tell you whether you want the car ? (certainly has me, I've never had a day long test drive) A day would be more than enough time to pop to the shops, go for a quick blat up the motorway etc and test the car thoroughly. I would take that offer if I was you.

The difference is about 20 hours after collecting and returning the car.

Terrible website, not least the url. But this made me laugh ..

“The steering is precise and driving the Audi RS4 feels very much like a go-kart in the way that, whichever way you turn the steering wheel, that’s the way the car will go.” laugh Clarkson couldn’t have said it better.

Thanks for the practical comments. Didn't expect to be trolled though!!

Yes I get that a dealer might be reluctant to offer a test in a hot car and I have (I thought) a decent long term relationship with a dealer.

For the doubters, 24 hours gives me the chance to take it home, look, over it at my leisure, show it to the family without dashing to the dealer and back to collect and return the car.

I get where you're coming from but if the offer of a day is the only one on the table, why not negotiate a time of 9-6 that way you get a decent amount of time with the car.

Nottm Audi have always blown a bit hot and cold!
Remember having a Cayman S and wanted to look at the next level up, so popped into to enquire about an R8. They weren’t that interested, called into Porsche around the corner and picked up a new (then 997 turbo) up a week later for 2 days.
That was a quick car, forgot about the Audi

If you're seriously going to be spending £60k+ or whatever an RS4 is these days, I'm sure the dealer will be happy letting you have a look over it with the family at the dealership without the risk to them of their £60k car sitting on your driveway (or for all they know, outside a £50k house in some dodgy part of town). Plus what are you going to learn from your 24 hour test drive between parking it up for the night, eating, going to bed etc. Picking a car up from a dealership at 9am and dropping it off at 5 should surely tell you want you want to know and give you plenty of time to drive it, look at it etc.

Leicester Audi normally have stuff in stock for demos. We walked in and test drove an RS4 immediately. No idea how long they'd lend you one for but they were good for both our purchases.
