The other crucial question is what do you do with the cars.
Is a holiday going to be pile bikes, surfboards or what have you in the car and drive halfway across Europe, or dump the car at the nearest airport for a fortnight? Are grandparents at the other end of the country or in the third row of seats every weekend?
My first thoughts for one driver's car, and one spacious car, both capable of carrying a family of four were Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio and Jaguar iPace (must be a little smaller than an XC90, surely?).

Yep volvo does all the jobs like that which we will keep, but I agree another car that can do some jobs and is a nice place to sit is preferable I think......quite fancy panamera or lwb RRIs a holiday going to be pile bikes, surfboards or what have you in the car and drive halfway across Europe, or dump the car at the nearest airport for a fortnight? You know they make a hard-top Boxster now? They're really quite good. But waftability? Nope!
I have a manual 981 Boxster S and drive it with the roof down as often as I can. It was my daily for two years. Practical? For a sports car, yes it is. I can get my golf clubs in the boot and the trolley in the froot. But I don't have kids or an S.O. to keep happy. I've recently bought a lovely 1992 BMW 730i auto for retro-style comfort, waftability and immunity from parking dings. And it's simple enough that I can work on it myself if necessary!
