Medium size van - Expert, Dispatch?

Have been on the prowl for a van for a period now, initially looked at several T4's (prior to COVID van mania) but they were rather ropey to say the least. I don't have exuberant plans for it, other than to likely board and insulate it with a view to fitting a small rock and roll bed and some storage, mainly for short camp site breaks. I've certainly missed the boat on Transporters, and truth be told I'm not a badge snob and don't mind going left field.

I've noticed Experts and Dispatches can be found relatively affordably, and while slightly smaller (at least the H1s) than say, a T5, I think they offer a good middle ground in regards to size versus daily usability. I assume it's the same units in them both, but have no experience of the HDI's really.

I could always go slightly bigger and opt for a Vivaro, Trafic or Transit, but again have no experience of those, although I am familiar with the CDTI from the Vauxhall.

Budget - probably £4k, I don't mind high mileage.

Renault Traffic/Vivaro's are a decent shout at this price point you'll want the 2.0d rather than the 1.6d.

No VAT, not the best budget, I know. But there are vans that crop up occasionally. Space wise - I've seen someone do a little sleeper in an Expert and it looked snug, but perfectly manageable. There are I think 3, variations of height and width for the Expert.

My brother had a Dispatch. It was very van like. Horrible to drive. Friend had an Expert which was much nicer to drive and be in.

Dunno if they are in budget but Hyundai i800. Solid big vans with decent space
