Help with Cat N car for sale
Discussion
I have run a HPI check on a BMW 6 series which is recorded at Cat N...
Spoke with private seller he says that it was rear cosmetic damage only - yet doesn't have a photos of damage depsite the write off occuring in August 2020?
The HPI returns that it was recorded at CAT N - fine
It also shows there is outstanding finance though and to a car with another VIN.... plot thickens.
The car has had a number of Private registrations and the outstanding finance relates to the previous reg on the car for sale yet with the different VIN
Car is a BMW 640d (current on AT if anyone interested in checking it out @ £16,495 / Reg CS07PAR / Very well specced but i am thinking there is a reason for the competiitve price.
I am thinking walk away due to the numerous factors, would be interested to know any of your feedback though!
Cheers

Might be worth checking with https://www.vcheck.uk/
They hold salvage auction data so may have some info.

Ah not ignoring the alarm bells, was merely checking re the cat n classification, have never checked a car before which was recorded... It does say in description that it's cat n... It was the other things like vin, registration and finance which surprised me more.
What was amusing was how insistant the seller was of the repair and mint condition, he even offered to pay for my fuel to go and see it!

Tell him you are coming by private jet and your fuel bill will be £16,000. At least you wont be out of pocket too much then What was amusing was how insistant the seller was of the repair and mint condition, he even offered to pay for my fuel to go and see it!

Thanks for the replies - an update for anyone interested...
So the seller whatsapp me today a video of the car and he did his own car check showing there was no outstanding finance on the car proclaiming he paid cash for it in Jan / Feb this year.
I asked again for the reason it was CAT N any photos of damage etc - he said it was scratches / damage on the bumper (why that would write of a low milage expensive car i don't know)
Anyway I ran a V Check (thanks to those who recommended this!) Photos of the car are there from the salvage co and yes it does have scrathes but it also has a towing eye fitted at the rear with the next photo showing it has water in the engine!!
I wasn't going to purchase the car but i was intrigued as to why the seller was so keen for me to view the car... Lucky escape for me next person may not be!

I'd say the seller isn't trustworthy.
Here is some information I found (maybe call the previous seller).
Not that it's a biggie, but the MOT is up in 2 weeks.
Cazana, never knew they did a previously seen adverts bit - very interesting! Here is some information I found (maybe call the previous seller).

However, if I search on
https://trade.cazana.com
I can see the dates of keeper changes and plate changes.
For this car it shows
YF15XZK to XZ6012 on 13.12.2015
Then back to YF15XZK on 27.08.2019
Then to CS07PAR on 23.09.2019
Then to Y11OUT on 29.11.2019
Then to CS07PAR again on 7.09.2020
It probably isn't such a bad car, more of a bad seller.
