We're all aware of the 'inflated' used car prices due to the shortage of new cars as a result of semiconductor supply as well as glass supply issues.
My question is how long will this continue ?
My predicament is, I have a 2018 RS3 with 23k miles, the car is as perfect as a car of the age can be, unmolested, unmodified etc. I've been offered £38.250 by two separate Audi main dealers this week which lets be honest is bonkers. I don't have the time nor patience to advertise it privately and host a never ending procession of idiots wanting test drives and making silly offers.
So, do I stick or twist ? There's a new model on the horizon, subject to the above parts issues, it's something of a gamble either way, I have the use of another car, anybody else in the same situation ?

i would happily take a small drop in price to have the protection of selling to a 'trustworthy' company rather than having to deal with the scammers

its just to much money IMO to be worth the risk

WBAC are also paying very high prices for RS cars atm, they have offered my m8 what he paid for his RS4 18 months ago!

It will be interesting to drive the new RS3 with the massivly upgraded 4WD system which should sort its handling out

Only way you'll really benefit from the prices being offered now is if you don't need to buy another car to replace it.

If you look to buy something to replace your outgoing RS3 immediately, then you'll be straight into the same price-inflated market that you'll end up selling yours into.

If you're happy to take the 38k and bank it until the new model is out, then you may see a benefit in selling up now, especially if the market tanks, but there's no guarantees.

I can relate to this.

I bought an RS3 in 2019 for £38k, traded it for £35k in January and since then WBAC keep sending me messages offering £37k! The used market for limited production cars is mad.

I have an immaculate 2017 S3 saloon (there's a readers' cars thread) with under 15k miles and am considering an RS3. I'm in NI and we have very little RS stock - I have Audi UK looking at <30k miles options in England for me for a no test drive purchase.

Drop me a PM with the spec if you get a minute.

ETA: does need to be the saloon though!

It's a Sportback mate, Ara blue, Supersports seats, Sport exhaust, Comfort and Sound pack, and the 5 arm titanium wheel option. Had oil and inspection services with Audi within the last 1500 miles and 4 x PS4S tyres.

Good luck in your search.

Perfect spec other than the hatch! Seats are rare! Good luck with whatever you choose to do - as mentioned above it's a mad market just now but it feels to me a bit zero sum. You'll get more and pay more.

I paid £28k dead for my 2017 S3 with 6000 miles. WBAC offering £27.8k with it at 14,600 miles 26 months later. And it's mint so I'm not sure where they'd knock that down.

Really interesting - I have been thinking along exactly the same lines recently.

I have a 2018 RS4, 19k miles and immaculate condition. A couple of weeks back I saw 2 separate main dealers asking £55k for comparable cars. Not sure what that means they’d be willing to pay for mine but I’m tempted to ask.

If the price was right, I would think about getting into a cheap but fun hot hatch eg Golf GTi while waiting for the 911 GTS market to cool off a little.

Mmmm...
