Buying advice Volvo xc70 vs Audi A8
Discussion
After a bit or advice from people who have experience of both cars.
I am after a new car to commute to work and use as my daily, i am after something that is more comfortable and relaxing than my Ignis Sport. I have just been to view a 2007 Volvo Xc70 and was very surprised by how good it was.
However, I have always wanted an Audi A8 ever since the D2 versions appeared, just always been on my bucket list. Been looking at 3.0 tdi D3 facelift model from 2007 onwards. Boot access is kind of holding me back - carrying large items etc.
Has anyone had experince of both? Would the A8 be in a different ball park to the Audi in terms of driving and comfort?
Any comments would be great - thanks in advance

Having owned 3 V70s, and also spent a fair amount of time driving (but not owning) Audi A8s, they really are very different cars.
The A8 is a lovely, luxurious place to be. The 3.0tdi is a superb engine even back in the early 2000s. My concern would be they were a very expensive car to buy. An expensive car to buy remains an expensive car to maintain regardless of age.
The XC70 is a very comfy place to be, and I think it fits what you’re looking for. But the 2.4 D5 is not in the same league as the VAG 3.0tdi (and I’m a huge D5 fan). The D5 is showing its age being a bit rough. The load space is obviously fantastic and takes pretty much anything you can throw at it.
I think you need to decide what you want. The XC70 is probably all you need… but it sounds like you want an A8.
