I am looking for my biggest upgrade going from a 8k car (now worth around 2k) to a 26k car but I am unable to decide.

Both cars look good. Here are the details:

BMW 5 series M Sport 520D 2018

https://www.cinch.co.uk/used-cars/bmw/5-series/det...

It is 5k cheaper than all the cars in auto trader with same mileage.

Pros
- Cracking car, effectively brand new very low mileage (3k)
- 1 owner

Cons
- No rear parking camera
- I don't think it has a folding mirror, can anyone confirm? I am not too familiar with BMW features.

Audi A6 2.0 TDI Quattro Black Edition 2018

https://www.cinch.co.uk/used-cars/audi/a6/details/...

Pros
- Quattro - 4 wheel drive - must feel quite good right? never driven one
- Parking pack - has rear parking camera and if I am correct it can automatically park itself??
- Technology pack with wireless parking and can show nav on the car dashbaord. Any1 know if the heads up unit here is like carplay?
- Folding mirror
- Has everything and more a person would ever want in a car!

Cons
- Higher mileage than BMW but still only 11k
- Previous generation (car is kind of outdated?)
- White seats
- 2 owners

I think with BMW if I keep it for 2 years and add another 20k miles I'd still get a good 60 to 70% of my money back, while, with AUDI I'd be getting around 40 to 50%.

What is everyone's thoughts?

Not having a folding mirror is kind of bothering me with BMW

I’m usually a Audi guy but the C7 generation is very dated now on the interior, the MMI etc no where near lives up to the much newer systems in the 5 series, touch screen and I drive where as MMI gets really frustrating to use especially if you where using the sat nav. that’s before you take into account the ride, I tried a m sport 5 and compared to my step dads c7 it was like silk.

Don’t think the parking camera would bother me

I would also say the 5 series is a better drive

Thank you for your input Nick.

Do you have any idea about folding mirror for 5 series.

Are they add-on pack or included in the range?

Test drive both as one will standout out of the two it would be the BMW BUT at this price point I'd be taking the E Class over both.

As much as I like merc it is not for me. I feel like every merc e class is a taxi driver.

Can't test drive the cars with Cinch but can return within 14 days if I don't like.

I have test driven a normal Audi A6 which was good but I haven't test driven the BMW 5 series but I think that's what I am going for.

It seems to have folding mirror as just checked in the spec.

You might think that low mileage is good, but does that mean that BMW has spent its first 3 years doing loads of short trips? Not great for a diesel. It’ll probably be fine, just trying to think of risks

I took your advice. I went to a BMW dealership to test drive a car I saw online as BMW approved. The car was petrol, newer than this diesel car but a little bit higher mileage but more or less the same price. They gave me nearly 80% more than what Cinch offered for me for PX for my car!!!

All in all, I had to pay 1K less than I imagined. BMW warranty for 1 year and it has M Sport Plus package with rear view camera, harman speakers and folding mirrors!!!

Can't wait to get hand on the baby

Glad you got a result, I did say you may find they at least match your offer.

Enjoy the car.

Thanks.

It's the first time I had visited an actual dealership.

It is quite scary for a young person like myself when I see these big logos and companies and think they are only for "posh" people but actually my visit was soo much different.

I had visited dealership like cargiant and big motoring world where the sales person followed you around all the time and never really left you alone in the car. Big push to get those addons.

Here, they gave me and my friend keys and allowed us to go on test drive on our own which felt really good as we checked the car in our own pace (unlike cargiant/Big motoring world where they come with you and try talk to you during test drive).

After the test drive, there was no push today. they agreed to refurbish the wheel which has a minor scruff and as usual they will detail the car.

All in all such a pleasant experience. From the drive, I got the keys to agreeing to buy the car took 1 hour 15 mins but all at my own pace.

Plenty complain about dealerships but I have had nothing but decent experiences buying cars from BMW.

Like you say, there is no pushy sales and they will have plenty of work done to the car prior to sale.

Big Motoring World......well, just google their reviews. The positive ones on Trustpilot and Google are 99% written by their staff, you can see they are fake because they don't contain specifics. 'Oh Shane was brilliant, couldn't have been more helpful'.....the only review ever written by John. You can check the BMW forums as well, they buy cars in bulk at auction and flog the on. Sometimes you get the odd decent one but most either have issues they they are not interested in fixing, missing paperwork, missing keys, previous undisclosed bodywork repars etc etc. Avoid like the plague.

Most or all dealers are doing unattended test drives now. Positive outcome of Covid.

When I went on a test drive of BMW, I suggested that saleswoman goes with me and she had no problem with that. I wanted her to show me where to go for best driving experience, as I don't know the area very well.

Audi gave me car for an hour. In that case, I know the area, so went unattended and could properly test the car on different roads.
