What cruiser for £4000

I currently have a 2010 Golf TDI with 180k on the clock and on her last legs. As soon as she throws up a big bill i'll need a replacement car.
With the following criteria, which car would be best suitable?
-Automatic if possible
-Diesel
-4 doors with decent boot size (newborn children need so much stuff)
-A little bit of 'prestige' but most certainly not a badge snob
-Servicing and parts that don't cost the world
-Comfortable eating up 100+ miles a day
