Is now a good time to buy with supply issues on new cars?

Looking for a refresh on car 2 in the family and really don't see much decent value out there at the moment before all this "chip shortage" nonsense.

Also, what is the car you are replacing - the cost to change might be similar to historic levels if the previous car is worth more than it would be under normal circumstances.

No, it's a terrible time, used car prices are well up on pre-pandemic / last year.

At least, compared to 12/18 months ago it's a bad time to buy most used cars. However, no-one knows what things will be like next year. Also, if you want a car now, used is probably the most likely option due to long lead times on most new cars. And finally, if you're selling a car and buying a car, you stand to make back some of the premium on the car you sell.

So prices are up on a year ago, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't buy, just be aware that's the situation.
