This is not naming or shaming, just a link to the FCA (the UKs financial regulator) so fully public knowledge and a government issued warning.

I attempted to warn others on here many months ago but my messages were flagged and removed as apparently you can't leave negative reviews.
Policy 5:
‘Do not name and shame any company or individual, or post content which could cause reputational damage or which could be deemed as libellous or defamatory. To do so puts you at risk of legal action and we may be obliged by law to disclose your personal data.’
Is it time for pistonheads to review this policy as sadly this would have likely saved many others going though the same ordeal?

Ridiculous, how can that be justified?
Reading up on this, there could be 700-800k gone astray according to various sources. No wonder he's gone all quiet on his YouTube channel!
Totally agree and it should be highlighted to raise awareness of it to the community. I think he's gone quiet on all his social media platforms! Reading up on this, there could be 700-800k gone astray according to various sources. No wonder he's gone all quiet on his YouTube channel!
Unfortunately it seems like Chris and Miriam Laing have form:

Same here, but understand their (Moderator) predicament.
A link to a government warning is not defamation though so hopefully this post will stand.
Something isn’t defamation if it’s true. You would hope any claims made by the FCA would be true…A link to a government warning is not defamation though so hopefully this post will stand.
The mods do seem to have a very blunt interpretation of ‘The Rules’. It’s all very ‘computer says no’ to me. If you mention a specific word your thread gets culled…

I had the same frustrations years ago after contacting a well-known PHer for something, only for there to be an egregious breach of data security on their part. The worst part was that the PHer tried to bullsPolicy 5:

t me at the time rather than acknowledge what had happened; unfortunately for them I'm not a numpty and it didn't a) take a genius to work out how it happened and b) cross-reference the details to confirm that the data revealed was 100% genuine despite the gaslighting attempt it was 'example data'.I spoke with James Drake who was, at the time, Head of Community & Marketing for PH to ask what could be done; the answer apparently was 'f
k all' and the PHer still receives regular recommendations to this day.My view - especially if you're making money from PHers and not even paying for the privilege - is that you must be prepared to answer criticism publicly as well as taking praise or recommendations publicly. Most would probably be horrified if I were able to reveal the facts of what happened....but I'm not allowed to.
I can only hope that the PHer in question absolutely s
t themselves and bucked up their ideas somewhat. Also reminder to PHers that you MUST take any recommendation here with massive scepticism as you only get half of the story at best.Gassing Station | Car Buying | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
